This college was established as a general Degree College in 1997 in a predominantly Muslim inhabited and agrarian backward area about 25 kilometers off from the Science City, Kolkata. For quite sometime the aspirants of the local intelligentsia felt the need of a Degree-level college and with their all-possible help Funds were raised under the leadership of A. R. Molla, Honorable Minister, Government of West Bengal and Sri Ajoy Chakraoborti, local MP. Thus the dream came true. It is imparting teaching in Arts (English, Bengali, History, Political Science, Education, Philosophy), Social Science (Economics, Geography and Mathematics) and Commerce (Accountancy Group) – faculties of under-graduate studies. It has Honours courses in Geography, Bengali, Political Science, History and English. Plans are afoot to exte4nd Honours courses in other subjects

Objectives

Education is the main objective. Cultural activities, sports activities, Sports, NCC & NSS, multi-gym activities also include the objective of Education.  Compulsory Computer literacy programmes aims to make students more information savy and help them to get a more firm foothold in present-day highly competitive world.  Awareness Camps, Vocational courses, Training courses are in the pipeline.
