The Indian Institute of Social Welfare & Business Management (IISWBM), Kolkata, introduced the first programme on management education in India. Starting on April 25, 1953, IISWBM completed it’s Golden Jubilee Celebration, which also meant the celebration of ‘Fifty years of Management Education in India’. The Institute is located in the most exciting and prestigious academic ambience of College Square, the place renowned for most high level educational institutes in the world. The list includes prestigious University of Calcutta, Presidency College, Sanskrit College, Calcutta Medical College.

To add further glory to the institute, it is worthy to be mentioned that the foundation stone of one was laid by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India

The Institute runs programmes in two shifts - Day and Evening. IISWBM offers Masters in Business Administration (MBA) course, Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM), Masters in Human Resource Management (MHRM), Public Systems Management (PSM) offered with four areas of specialization - Energy, Environment, Health Care and Hospital Management and Transportation and Logistics Management
