It was 24th December 1955, the dream had come true when the National Council of Education could achieve another milestone with the formal launch of Jadavpur University.

Desperation of NCE towards propagating education and literacy, which started as an innovative way of demonstrating resilience against the predominance and monopoly of British establishment, had been fueled by the exuberance of eminent personalities like Raja Subodh Chandra Mallik , Brajendra Kishore Roychowdhury of Gouripur, Sir Rash Behari Ghosh , poet Rabindranath Tagore and Sri Aurobindo Ghosh.

Jadavpur University has been reckoned as one of the front runners in academics al over the world today and the versatile course combination and enviable list of faculty members with its modern outlook in management and facilities have helped the University to become the preferred choices for most of the meritorious students of the country. Besides the conventional faculties like Arts, Science and Commerce, the University has started its management wing and Computer Science wing.
